Stainless steel or brass fill brushes should not be used on coated, plated, plastic, or insulated instruments — they may cause significant damage.
Intended Use

SurgiHealth Solutions Passivation & Scrub Brushes are designed to clean dirty surgical instruments during the cleaning and decontamination processes. Brush fill materials consist of nylon, brass, and stainless steel.

Quality Inspection

Ensure that brushes are free from debris or contaminants and are not damaged prior to use. Discard and replace brushes once bristles are visibly worn or brushes have visible damage from repeated or prolonged use. Continued use of damaged brushes is ineffective for cleaning and may cause damage to the medical device.
Storage

Brushes should be stored in a dry area where contamination can be prevented.

Manual Cleaning

- Rinse brushes under cool water for one (1) to two (2) minutes (longer if needed) to loosen soil and remove gross debris.
- Prepare enzymatic solutions according to the manufacturer's IFU. Soak brushes in fresh enzymatic solution according to manufacturer's contact time recommendations (minimum two (2) minutes).
- Rinse brushes under cool water for one (1) minute.
- Visually inspect brushes for cleanliness and removal of all soil and gross debris.
- Repeat steps one (1) through four (4) if needed until brushes are completely free from visible soil.
Automated / Mechanical Cleaning

- Rinse brushes under cool water for one (1) to two (2) minutes (longer if needed) to loosen soil and remove gross debris.
- Prepare enzymatic solutions according to the manufacturer's IFU. Soak brushes in fresh enzymatic solution according to manufacturer's contact time recommendations (minimum two (2) minutes).
- Place brushes into a wire basket or micro mesh tray, then place in an automated/mechanical washer.
- Visually inspect brushes for cleanliness and removal of all soil and gross debris.
- Repeat steps one (1) through four (4) if needed until brushes are completely free from visible soil.

Only new and unused brushes can be sterilized. Nylon brushes may show slight discoloration due to the sterilization process.
