Description

Sterile processing brushes designed for manual cleaning of lumened surgical instruments and suction channels. Constructed with twisted stainless-steel wire, nylon bristles, and a loop or ring handle for safe handling. Available in multiple diameters (1mm–24mm) and lengths to accommodate all common instrument channel profiles.
Intended Use

For manual pre-cleaning of reusable surgical instruments, specifically lumens, channels, and suction tubes, prior to disinfection and sterilization. For use in sterile processing departments, GI labs, and ambulatory surgery centers in accordance with AAMI ST79.
Contraindications

- Do not use on instruments whose manufacturer's IFU prohibits brush-assisted cleaning.
- Do not use if bristles are bent, broken, frayed, or otherwise visibly damaged.
- Do not use if packaging is damaged, wet, or previously opened.

- Visually inspect each brush before use. Discard if damaged.
- Confirm brush diameter matches the instrument channel per the instrument manufacturer's IFU before insertion.
- Wear appropriate PPE including gloves, eye protection, and fluid-resistant gown during manual cleaning.
- Perform manual cleaning in a ventilated area or biological safety cabinet as required by facility policy.
Caution
Using an undersized brush may leave bioburden in the lumen. Using an oversized brush may damage the instrument channel or bristles. Confirm diameter against the instrument manufacturer's IFU before use.
Storage Conditions

Store in a clean, dry environment at controlled room temperature (15°C–30°C / 59°F–86°F). Avoid excessive heat, humidity above 85% RH, direct sunlight, and chemical vapors. Store in original packaging until point of use.
Shelf Life & Disposal

- Shelf life: 5 years from date of manufacture when stored as directed.
- Do not use beyond the expiration date printed on the label.
- Dispose of used brushes immediately in a puncture-resistant biohazard container in accordance with local, state, and federal medical waste disposal regulations.
- Packaging may be disposed of as standard waste unless contaminated.
Indications for Use

Use during the manual cleaning stage of the instrument reprocessing cycle to remove visible soil, tissue, blood, and debris from internal channels of surgical instruments, flexible endoscopes, suction cannulae, and lumened devices. Intended for use as part of a validated reprocessing protocol in accordance with the instrument manufacturer's IFU and applicable standards (AAMI ST79, AAMI ST91).
Directions for Use

- Confirm the brush diameter and length are appropriate for the instrument channel being cleaned. Consult the instrument manufacturer's IFU if needed.
- Don appropriate PPE: fluid-resistant gown, gloves, eye/face protection.
- Open the packaging in a clean environment. Inspect the brush — discard immediately if bristles are damaged or packaging was compromised.
- Submerge the instrument and brush in a sink or basin of enzymatic detergent solution prepared per the detergent manufacturer's instructions.
- Insert the brush gently into the lumen or channel. Using a back-and-forth motion, pass the brush the full length of the channel until the brush tip exits the distal end.
- Withdraw the brush and visually inspect the distal end for soil. Repeat until no visible soil is present on the brush tip or in the solution rinse.
- Rinse the instrument lumen thoroughly with clean water per facility protocol.
- After use, immediately discard the brush in a biohazard container. Do not set down, reuse, or attempt to clean, disinfect, or sterilize this brush.
